I am most pleased to share the news that St. Joseph’s Deputy Director of Inpatient Services, Tammy Landerway, has earned certification as a Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) Surveyor.
In her new capacity, Tammy will be representing St. Joseph’s at treatment facilities nationwide.
CARF’s mission is to provide accreditation standards and surveyors for organizations working in the human-services field, such as St. Joseph’s, worldwide.
Tammy shares, “When I received the email congratulating me for completing the arduous application process and notifying me that I had been selected to participate in the CARF Surveyor Training Program I felt a great sense of accomplishment.”
CARF surveyors are the cornerstone of the peer-review survey process. Surveyors such as Tammy are professionals in their fields with primary employment at CARF-accredited organizations and are actively involved in the accreditation process and implementation of CARF standards at their organization.
To maintain its strong cadre of highly qualified professionals responsible for conducting the survey component of the accreditation process, CARF recruits individuals with expertise/experience with clinical, administrative, managerial, or other oversight responsibility over matters such as strategic planning, financial management, corporate responsibility, and/or overall organizational performance.
Tammy believes becoming a Surveyor will have many benefits, including the opportunity to network and learn from other professionals as she travels nationwide while contributing to their organizations’ business and service delivery practices, performance, and quality of services. She states, “This will also benefit our agency in helping us to prepare for future surveys, help to ensure we are providing quality care, and strengthen us in partnering with insurance providers.”
“The next phase in the process will be 20 hours of online training as well as weekly webinars followed by a 3-day on-site training in Arizona,” she says. “Once that is complete I will then be paired with a mentor to do an on-site survey. This is a very exciting opportunity which I am truly grateful for.”
On behalf of all in the St. Joseph’s family, congratulations, Tammy!
