SARANAC LAKE - St. Joseph's Addiction Treatment and Recovery Centers has again been named one of the best companies to work for in New York state.
The designation, which St. Joseph's also received in 2009, was awarded by the New York State Society for Human Resources Management
The award is based upon the results of a competitive process in which the employees of both for-profit and nonprofit organizations complete a comprehensive survey to determine a wide range of workplace attributes. Factors weighed include the quality of communications throughout the organization and the degree to which employees feel fulfilled and are engaged in meaningful work that is in harmony with the agency's mission. The society also weighed the qualities of leadership throughout all levels of the company in the decision.
"This exceptional achievement is the result of the work of exceptional people," Bob Ross, CEO of St. Joseph's, said in a press release. "The traits that distinguish our agency - dedication to our mission and to those we serve, optimism, hard work and the care we demonstrate for each other - are precisely the attributes the nominating organization utilized in determining this year's recipients."
"You and your company should be extremely proud to be included in this elite group," Lori Zelman, chair of the Best Places to Work selection committee wrote in her notification letter to St. Joseph's Human Resources Director Katie Kirkpatrick.
St. Joseph's received further recognition during the recent annual conference of the Association of Substance Abuse Providers, held in Albany. During the conference, the state Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services recognized St. Joseph's as one of just nine agencies statewide for superior leadership and service.
"Congratulations to St. Joseph's Addiction Treatment & Recovery Centers for being honored a second year as one of the best companies to work for in New York," said state Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services Acting Commissioner Arlene Gonzalez-Sanchez. "This award acknowledges St. Joseph's employee-centered approach and its commitment to providing a work environment that cares for patients - and for the staff."
Village Mayor Clyde Rabideau congratulated St. Joseph's on receiving the award.
"They bring honor to themselves and to Saranac Lake, and for that we are grateful, as well as for all the hard work and care they give day-in and day-out," he said in a prepared statement. "St. Joe's recent honor, along with Trudeau's designation as the top place in the country for post-docs, underscores the vibrancy and quality of life we enjoy in Saranac Lake and distinguishes our community like no other in New York."
The New York State Society for Human Resources management will host an awards dinner in April in Albany to formally recognize all of the state's award recipients.
St. Joseph's celebrates its 40th year this year.
