Inpatient and Veterans Programs
St. Joseph’s Addiction Treatment & Recovery Centers is headquartered in New York’s Adirondack Region and provides inpatient, veterans, outpatient, adolescent, and aftercare services to men and women, teens, and their families from throughout New York State.
Our 65-bed inpatient is located in Saranac Lake in the historic Rumsey Cottage, built as a 20-room home on 20 acres in 1928. The complex, now 53,000 square-feet is currently undergoing an extensive $10 million, multi-year renovation to provide further clinical enhancements and energy efficiency.
Our Saranac Lake campus is also home to the Col. C. David Merkel, MD Veterans Residence for the long-term treatment of male veterans who suffer from substance abuse, PTSD, traumatic brain injury, and other co-occurring issues common to those who have served.

At all of our clinics we offer intensive case management, assessment, individual and group counseling addressing Early Recovery Skills, Recovery Issues, Relapse Prevention, Continuing Care and Co-Dependency. We also offer assessment, and individual and group counseling for Vocational Rehabilitation Services. Referrals for services based on clients’ needs to Medical Services, Mental Health/Psychiatric Services, Career/Employment/Educational, Financial Counseling, Legal Services, and Self Help & Recovery Groups are also available through the clinics.
We strongly emphasize a “team” approach, with the client being the primary participant in their “team”, and included in every aspect of treatment planning. St. Joseph’s Outpatient Clinics view the relationship with the client, family, and community as a partnership.
In addition to the services offered at the Outpatient Clinics, we provide assessment, individual and group counseling addressing Early Recovery Skills, Recovery Issues, Relapse Prevention, Continuing Care and Co-Dependency, and after-care planning at the Franklin and Essex County Jails.
